We’re moving studio

Things might be a bit slower than normal this week as we’re moving into our new studio. Providing there aren’t any hiccups, we’ll be shipshape by next week and orders will be dispatched on the 8th. I’m also sneaking in a quick whizz to the Maison & Objet show in Paris on Thursday/Friday, but will bring back lots of continental goodies.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with Mr Anglepoise, a British design icon who is celebrating his 75th year.

Redder

The air is naturally heavy with ethylene and they’re starting to ripen.

Pencil shavings

Found this on Philip Wood’s ‘Exploring Life Through Objects‘ blog. If twitter is failing to inspire you, give Philip’s visual treats a whirl.

The Kings of Quo

I can’t keep still when I hear the intro to Caroline by Status Quo and I don’t mind admitting it. I should probably go to a gig and get it out of my system. Less ‘turned on’ by their logo though…

Victoria & Albert Museum

I flipping love this place and it seems to consistently find ways to weave in and out of my life. I used to come here as a wide eyed student on day trips before I moved to Newcastle, when I was employed and living in London my wonderful boss (Lynda) would send me on inspiration afternoons here (what a job!) and it was in the cafe here that the fluffy ideas about starting Bold & Noble were cemented. And now, cue drum roll, we’ve actually got something tangible under their roof, as of next week the V&A shop will be stocking Bold & Noble prints.

This is big stuff for little people like us!

Green Tomatoes

Come on my little green tommies, go red. I’m publicly shaming you for taking so long to ripen up…

Plugging the gaps

There is something so appealing about this. Artist Jan Vormann repairs and reconstructs crumbling, decayed and sometimes war scarred walls with colourful lego bricks in his Disptachwork project, which has seen him visit Tel Aviv, Berlin and Bocchignano in Italy. I love the combination of materials, it makes me smile.

Grasmere gingerbread

This just arrived in the post from the rellies who are holidaying in the Lake District. They know I love this gingerbread and the packaging is delightful too. A great example of ‘beauty in simplicity’, a bit of greaseproof and a lacky band, job done.

Agatha Christie

This is a dream job for any designer and we were really privileged to collaborate with Harper Collins on the relaunch of 80 Agatha Christie books. David had to delve deep into his creative reserves to come up with forty individual cover designs and here are a few from the collection. It was a mammoth task, but hopefully the end results speak for themselves.

North Rock

Here is our most northerly UK Stocklist, North (you’re not kidding) Rock Gallery in the Shetland Islands. We’re delighted to have a little Bold & Noble outpost up there, it is almost on a level with Oslo you know. Suzanne, the gallery looks brilliant and we wish you lots of luck with the new venture.
