Sir John Soane

It is the weekend and if I wasn’t dabbing calamine lotion on Wilf’s chicken pox I’d like to be here – Sir John Soane’s Museum. Soane was a forward thinking architect in the 18th Century, his home in London (now the museum) was where he experimented with lighting techniques, architectural details and the place that housed his huge collection of antiquities. It is a magical (and wacky) place, especially in winter when visitors can view the building by candlelight. You get funneled through dark narrow corridors, sandwiched in little cubbyholes and then exposed to glazed lightwells, he’d never get planning permission in the 21st century but that is the joy of the place.

Period Living October 2009

Eek, a photograph, I must grow up a bit and enjoy having my picture taken, I’m not alone there though. A while ago I was asked to do an interview for Period Living magazine in their ‘Going Green’ feature and today I got to see it hot off the press. Whilst I’m immaturely uncomfortable with seeing my face on the page, I am delighted that we’ve been considered worthy of a mention – thank you Rebecca!

We’ve made it to Holland

Some news from Holland… another little Bold & Noble outpost has been established. ShakShuka is a new online ‘eco boutique for baby, child and mama’ and they have some really fun and stylish things. My top picks would have to be the Guerra Sneakers (shame they don’t do it in a six) or the leopard print tights (below) which will be available in their new fall/winter collection.
