Harsh haircut

What am I talking about, I pretty much love every time of year. I forgot that back in early March I’d taken these pictures. Plants go wild over the summer, during autumn the leaves fall off and then in early spring the ‘council chopper’ gives everything a very harsh haircut, a number one all over. It makes me laugh, it looks so unnatural.

Kids Modern

A big thanks to Kids Modern, we had a fun and fruitful day at the design show at Dulwich College yesterday.

There were some really innovative designs, especially the punch’n'cuddle dolls, it was brilliant watching the little ones rush in and immediately pounce on this mad weeble like object (www.punchncuddle.com). We were really impressed with the ‘billy rocker’ stall too, partly because he was pretty much running a shop come nursery but mainly because of the brilliant product. A simple flat pack three piece rocking horse, constructed of cardboard, so you can create your own rocking horse, monster, scribble, anything goes and all for £28 (www.mr-kaliski.com). We bought one for little Wilf, though he’ll probably just want to eat it at the moment.

In all the first blog excitement I uploaded the wrong Ginkgo pictures, so here they are.

And a little bit of Ginkgo trivia for those who like the print. It is the world’s oldest living species of tree, whose fossil records date back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. They were once widespread in Europe and North America, but were destroyed in most regions during the Ice Age, surviving only in certain regions of China. They would be extinct today had it not been for the preservation efforts of some Buddhist Monks, who planted them in their temple gardens. Ginkgos soon became a sacred tree in both China and Japan.
