By popular demand

We’ve responded to your requests and added even more countries to our popular type map collection – with Canada, France, Italy and Ireland. It is a slow process, a map a month, all that fiddling with type line by line and cross referencing against google maps, but we got there in the end . They’ll be available to buy from our shop in the coming weeks, we’ll send out an e-newsletter the minute they hit the shelves.

Whilst working on the last map, the Japan tsunami struck. We felt compelled to do something to raise funds and have created a Japan type map in response. We’re unsure whether a roman alphabet map will be popular, but we’re going to give it a shot. Half of the 2011 profits from the sale of the Japan map will go directly to the charities providing relief in this area.

Ideal Home commission

Ok, cast your eyes away from Wegner’s gorgeous wishbone chair while we tell you about our latest collaboration. We’re chuffed to be in such good company on the front cover of Ideal Home’s May issue. I’ll let them do the talking about how the feature came about:

“We love eco friendly design collective Bold & Noble who created two bespoke prints for the May issue. Celebrating the Quiet Revolution – a phrase which represents the growing interest in British talent and eco-friendly production methods – the beautiful prints are created using traditional screen printing methods and recycled materials”

Naturally we were delighted to oblige and the styling looks tiptop too.

Work

We’re on the look out for a brilliant Studio Assistant, the position is part-time five days a week. Essentially we’d like an extra pair of hands to help with the day-to-day ‘office’ side of things. We don’t expect you to create artworks or have screen printing expertise, that bit is happily taken care of by Jane and David but we would like someone who:

- can handle our screen prints with love and care whilst packaging them up for our customers
- is upbeat and happy to chat to our customers and answer e-mail enquiries
- is organised and has some accounting/office experience
- has proficient computer skills
- has an interest in culture, design and press/blogs
- is happy to roll up their sleeves and muck in
- won’t faint at the thought of making the tea and sorting the recycling

We’re a small company with two Creative Directors and a Studio Manager. This role will be assisting and supporting the team and over time would bring individual responsibilities too.

We’d like someone asap for this part-time position which is based in Hitchin. We’re happy to discuss salary when we find the right person. Please send a brief covering e-mail explaining why you’re the right person for the job along with your CV to sarah@boldandnoble.com. The deadline for applications 3rd April 2011.

Design imprint interview

If you fancy a lunchtime detour, check out the daily imprint. Writer, stylist and Bondi Beach resident Natalie Walton has lots for the inspiration hungry appetite.  She writes on fashion, film, design, photography and all things creative and last week we were lucky enough to be interviewed. The photo isn’t the greatest, but name me anyone who likes a picture of themselves.

February warmth

The snow drops are starting to come up, whoop, whoop, that start of some growth after the cold winter. In July we moved to our new house and I’m so excited about seeing how the garden will evolve in the coming months. In our old garden I knew all the plants and what they did at different times of the year, but this garden is new to me. Will there be daffodils, tulips or perhaps more exotic bulbs, only time will tell. Talking of spring greens, below is February Homes & Gardens featuring our Birds around Britain print.
