The darkness

I loved this piece by Jeanette Winterson for the Guardian about embracing the dark now the nights are drawing in. It is easy to mourn the loss of light nights and warm weather, but there are some bonuses to the cold and dark. At the weekend they produced a brilliant ‘guide to the night’ with all sorts of gems about night swimming, walks, even sneaky guerrilla knitters.

Before us stands yesterday

I’ve been enjoying these Wild Swim films on the Guardian website, Kate Rew founder of the outdoor swimming society shares some of her favourite dips. If you’re tingling for an adventure, the OSS have a map of wild swims in the UK and now the summer season has finished at Hitchin Lido I might have to take to the rivers.

Wayne Hemingway

We’ve got a lot of time for Wayne and not just because he selected our prints as one of only a handful of his favourite eco homewares. Wow-wee! Oh yes, the wonderful Observer newspaper dedicated a whole magazine to all things lovely and green, including Daryl Hannah (actress, turned eco warrior), David Attenburgh, Ben Okri da di da… and there were we, on page 54, rubbing shoulders with the great and the good (albeit accidently). What a lovely Sunday morning surprise!
