Foil blocking: how it works
So how do you get from this...
To this, ta-da...
If you're technical and like the detail, here goes...
We create the artwork digitally and it is replicated in relief onto to a metal printing plate (a die). The die warms up to 140 degrees when placed in the machine. The metallic foil comes into contact with the plate, the paper lays on top of the foil and all three are sandwiched together with about 200 tonnes of pressure. The foil then adheres to paper leaving a crisp, foiled image. Magic.
